On the madcap streets of London, people surround us - on the tube, on the bus or strolling in the park. 'HAIR', provided an excuse to meet them, to break our step, and to tip toe into the complex mosaic of their lives. Our hair combines with our face to tell the story of our lives. Each wrinkle, scar, curly eyebrow and freckle reveals so much. Hair is deeply rooted both in our head and in our personal identities; but it is also fleeting in nature. My encaustic process mirrors this, with every hair meticulously scratched, buffed and re-etched into the wax.
